Sergeant Alexander Blackman: One man's hero is another man's terrorist

In a sense it's stating the obvious when I say that "one man's hero is another man's terrorist".

At least it's obvious to many British citizens when it applies to Islamist terrorists. They realise that the Islamist terrorist is a hero to those who sympathise with the terrorist's actions and motivation.

But it's a much tougher proposition for most British people to get beyond their perception that British Soldiers are "heroes" to realise that many British Soldiers are terrorists (in the meaning of Section 40 of the Terrorism Act 2000).

Take Sergeant Alexander Blackman, for example.

To 100,000 British folk Sergeant Blackman is someone to support, to the extent that a petition to the UK Parliament in support of Sergeant Blackman has, it is reported, been signed by upwards of 100,000 people.

See Marine's murder conviction for shooting dead an Afghan fighter could be debated by MPs

In my view Sergeant Blackman is no hero, he is a terrorist (in the meaning of Section 40 of the Terrorism Act 2000).

A UK court has also found Sergeant Blackman to be a murderer.

In that context I find it fascinating that upwards of 100,000 people could support someone who is, in my estimation, both a murderer and a terrorist.

British adoration of British soldiers who murder is not new.

The founder of the Scouts, Baden-Powell, was in my estimation also a murderer, having shot dead an unarmed prisoner of war.

Crimes by soldiers somehow don't register as crimes with some sections of the British public.

Terrorism by the British Military also does not currently register as terrorism in the consciousness of the British public.

That is one factor that explains the ongoing RAF terrorism in Iraq:
RAF Terrorism in Iraq - Section 56 offences by David Cameron MP and Michael Fallon MP reported to West Midlands Police

Members of Parliament do not realise what "terrorism" is in UK Law. It's defined in Section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2000: Terrorism: interpretation.

The ignorance of Members of Parliament persists in part because of dishonest and erroneous advice by the UK Attorney General and Solicitor General:
Unlawful UK air strikes in Iraq - Letter of 25th September 2014 to UK Attorney General and Solicitor General

Lies about terrorism from politicians such as David Cameron and Theresa May must stop.

RAF terrorism in Iraq must stop.

This blog hopes to begin a long, and no doubt controversial, process to assist the British public to come to terms with the reality that many of their "heroes" are, in fact, "terrorists" as defined in Section 40 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

That process of education will, in all likelihood, be hardest for those who lost limbs as terrorists or whose loved one died as a terrorist.

Truth is sometimes immensely hard to come to terms with.

The truths of British Military terrorism demonstrate that difficult process in spades.
